We often hear people refer to the universe as if it’s a cosmic force with a will of it’s own and the ability to make things happen. The central moral agent and force for change in the world. The universe is being credited for all kinds of things that happen in their lives and the world.
In truth, the universe is a created thing, called into being by a wise, powerful, and gracious creator – God. Jesus Christ is the visible image of God in the earth. The Bible speaks to this in theses verses:
“Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation (15), for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see – such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. (16) He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.(17)”
